SPARKS Magazine, Female Skills Learner of the Year Competition for the Electrical Sector

Last week saw the first SPARKS magazine, female skills learner of the year competition for the electrical sector, which was held in Harrow, London, for the South of England heat. The event was aimed at putting a big emphasis on promoting female learners within our industry.

Luckily, we were represented by one of our 3rd year learners from the Redruth centre, Polly Every, at the event. When asked to participate in the event, Polly really did rise to the challenge and without hesitation agreed to enter.

At the event itself, Polly produced an excellent installation and the standard of work that was shown at the event was to a very high standard throughout and picking a winner could not have been an easy decision.

Polly really does deserve very high praise for attending the event and putting her head above the parapet, where most of us would not and much credit really needs to be given to Polly for that. Polly wasn’t at all phased by the task that was set and was a joy to be with during the event and gave a real justification as to why we attended the event. Polly represented her company, T Clarke, us as a training provider but mainly for herself.

The event was a chance for female electricians to get together and not feel like the minority within the industry for a change. The publicity of the event will hopefully inspire future generations to join the trade and help towards normalising women within the electrical industry and Polly has played a big part in supporting that change.

Thank you Polly for the amazing effort in promoting the industry.
