We’ve always said that the best way to learn, whether it’s a trade or professional business skills, is from the people who’ve actually done the job. And our latest AAT Level 4 cohort just proved it.

Led by Accounting Tutor Nuruz Zamal – who traded a career in local government and private accounting practice for the classroom just 9 months ago – every single apprentice in his first ever accounting class recently passed their exams. We aren’t just talking about scraping through, either – we’re talking scores like 88% and 96%, clean-sweep distinctions for many of his learners.

High Standards. No Fluff.

Nuruz joined Focus Training with years of industry insight under his belt, but a healthy dose of “first-time teacher nerves”. That’s where the Focus team really shines. We don’t just throw experts into a room and hope for the best.

“The standards here are high because the quality of education matters,” says Nuruz. “I had the industry knowledge, but the internal support from the team gave me the tools to translate that for the learners. Seeing these results proves that the Focus system works.”

By keeping classes small, we ensure our tutors have the time to actually teach, rather than just manage a crowd. It’s why our group achievement rates sit at 74.2% – well above the national average.

Why the Focus Method Works

We don’t do volume: we do impact. This cohort’s success is built on three specific pillars:

  • Practitioners, not just teachers: Nuruz isn’t reading from a dated textbook; he’s teaching from experience.
  • Small groups, big results: You aren’t just a number in a classroom here. Smaller classes mean more time on the technicalities that actually matter in the workplace.
  • Hand-picked partnerships: We only work with employers who care as much about quality and building confidence as we do: they’re as invested in the best possible outcome for the learner as we are.

Thinking about an accounting career?

Success as an accounting apprentice isn’t about memorizing formulas; it’s about being work-ready and confident in your skills. Whether you’re an employer looking to upskill your team, or an aspiring accountancy professional ready to take on an AAT qualification, we have the training, the experience, and the experts to get you there.

And what’s next for Nuruz? With one successful cohort finished, he can’t wait to get onto the next. Will you be lucky enough to join him?
