Part of a Select Group
Focus Training is proud today to announce that we’ve been chosen as part of a select group of training providers, to be part of the initial rollout of the government’s new apprenticeship unit model. This means we’ll be delivering high-impact, targeted training in some of the UK’s most critical technical areas.
As part of this first phase, we’ve been approved to deliver apprenticeship units in:
- Electric vehicle charging point installation and maintenance
- Electrical fitting and assembly
- Solar PV installation and maintenance
- Welding – mechanised
These areas sit right at the heart of the UK’s transition to a cleaner, more advanced economy, from electrification and renewables, to modern manufacturing and infrastructure.
Built on Proven Quality
This accolade is a testament to the fact that Focus Training has been built on a foundation of quality, industry-leading electrical training for over 30 years.
Since 1995, we’ve been a trusted trainer of electricians, supporting thousands of learners and employers to develop the skills that keep industries moving. Our approach has always been grounded in:
- Consistent, high-quality delivery
- Strong employer partnerships
- Smaller class sizes to ensure exceptional learner support
- Training that reflects real-world environments
- A relentless focus on learner outcomes
What Are Apprenticeship Units?
Apprenticeship units are a new way of delivering skills, designed to be more flexible, responsive, and accessible.
Instead of committing to a full apprenticeship programme, learners and employers can access focused training in specific, high-demand skill areas.
That means:
- Faster upskilling in priority sectors
- Greater flexibility for employers
- Targeted development aligned to real workforce needs
While the format is evolving, the expectation of quality remains the same – and that’s where our experience and track record matters most.
Supporting Priority Skills
The units we’re delivering aren’t arbitrary – they reflect where demand is growing fastest:
⚡ Electric vehicle infrastructure
As EV adoption accelerates, the need for skilled installers and maintenance specialists is rising rapidly.
☀️ Solar PV and renewable energy
The transition to net zero depends on a workforce ready to design, install, and maintain sustainable energy systems.
🔧 Electrical assembly and fitting
Core electrical skills remain the backbone of multiple industries, from construction to manufacturing.
🏭 Mechanised welding
Advanced manufacturing continues to evolve, requiring precision skills to support modern production methods.
For Employers: Flexible, High-Quality Training
For employers, this model offers a new way to think about workforce development.
You can:
- Upskill existing staff in targeted areas
- Respond quickly to changing industry demands
- Access high-quality training without committing to full apprenticeship programmes
- Use your apprenticeship levy to fund targeted upskilling
All while working with an industry-leading provider with nearly 30 years of experience in electrical training.
For Learners: Skills That Open Doors
For learners, these units provide a direct route into high-demand technical skills, whether you’re starting out or building on existing experience.
You’ll gain:
- Practical, industry-relevant skills
- Training delivered by experienced specialists
- A pathway into further qualifications and career progression
Continuing a Legacy of Trust
Since 1995, our role has been simple: deliver the skills industry actually needs, to the standard it expects.
This next phase builds on that legacy – combining proven delivery with a more flexible model designed for the future.
We’re proud to be part of it.
