Who is this apprenticeship for?

Adult Care Workers support individuals facing physical, emotional, social, or intellectual challenges. They help people achieve their personal goals and live safely, independently, and with dignity.

Roles can include:

  • Residential or nursing care

  • Home (domiciliary) care

  • Day centres

  • Personal Assistants supporting someone in their own home

  • Clinical healthcare settings

You’ll learn to support others with compassion and professionalism, becoming a trusted presence in their daily lives.

Course Details

Duration:
12 months of training + 3 months End Point Assessment (EPA)

Cost:
£4,000 (with a £200 + VAT employer contribution)

Government Funding & Incentives:

  • Employers with fewer than 50 employees who hire apprentices aged 16–21 will receive full funding (no employer contribution required)

  • Employers of apprentices aged 16–18 receive a £1,000 government incentive

What You’ll Learn

On-Programme Qualification:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Care

  • Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 1 (or attempt Level 2, subject to prior achievement)

  • Effective communication

  • Safeguarding individuals from harm

  • Supporting wellbeing in individuals and colleagues

  • Professional practice and continuous development

Assessment in the Workplace

Your designated Assessor/Trainer will visit you in the workplace to support the development of your on-programme portfolio and to complete your quarterly reviews

People Involved in Your Apprenticeship

Assessor/Trainer: A qualified and experienced assessor.
Group Quality Manager: Michelle Pointer.
Internal Verifier: Julie Capaldi.
Gateway: On completion of the on-programme learning, the employer, training provider and learner will confirm that the apprentice is ready for the End Point Assessment.

End Point Assessment (EPA)

  • Situational Judgement Test, through a Multiple Choice Exercise worth 50%.
  • Professional Discussion, worth 50%.

Grading

  • Acceptable achievement (Pass) 40 correct answers.
  • Good achievement (Merit) 50 or more correct answers.
  • Outstanding achievement (Distinction) 55 or more correct answers.
