Full job description

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and friendly receptionist with strong admin skills to join Focus Training Cornwall on a part-time basis during the school terms.

Positioned at the front desk in Redruth, you would be the friendly face and voice of Focus Training, handling core front-of-house functions, screening incoming sales and recruitment leads, liaising with employers daily, and ensuring the day-to-day paperwork, equipment and supplies needed for the smooth running of the centre are available.

What you’ll do

  • Provide a warm, professional, and friendly welcome to all learners, visiting employers, staff and guests arriving at the Redruth centre.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, resolving basic queries and routing complex calls to the correct team members, including screening and pre-qualifying initial inbound enquiries.
  • Contact employers daily to share attendance updates and routine administrative messages regarding their apprentices.
  • Act as an approachable, positive and helpful contact point for employer administrative queries.
  • Support with course bookings, room bookings, timetabling and preparing material for teaching staff as needed.
  • Oversee the daily readiness of the office facilities, classrooms and computer rooms, including keeping stationery and supplies well stocked.
  • Keep printed centre information material up to date, perform basic routine IT resets, keep the reception counter, waiting areas, and administrative spaces tidy, organised, and welcoming.
  • Support with implementation and daily administration of centre Health & Safety procedures.

What we’re looking for

  • Customer Service Style: Strong interpersonal skills with a naturally warm, friendly, and approachable manner both face-to-face and on the telephone.
  • Administrative Accuracy: Good attention to detail with an organised, methodical approach to filing, message taking, and printing.
  • Clear Communication: Confident, polite, and effective communication skills when speaking with employers, learners, and colleagues.
  • Digital Literacy: Comfort using standard Microsoft/Google office applications, email systems, CRM and booking systems, and basic IT equipment
  • Time Management: Ability to manage workload effectively during part-time hours.

Why Focus?
At Focus Training, we work with learners and employers to develop the skills that create careers, strengthen businesses and support our communities.

We’re looking for someone who wants to do more than just come to work — someone who wants to be a part of something, to build relationships, spot opportunities, and make a positive difference to our learners and employers.

In return, you’ll have the opportunity to develop professionally, feel connected to the education industry, and play as much of a role as you’d like in shaping the future of Focus in Cornwall.

Ready to make an impact? We’d love to hear from you.

Benefits:

  • 37 days leave, inclusive of bank holidays and Christmas closure (FTE)
  • Company pension
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Free on-site parking

Plus you’ll be joining a proactive, positive team open to all your ideas for innovation and growth!
