Our Early Years Skills Bootcamp is designed to prepare you for a rewarding career working with children in nurseries, schools, or other childcare settings. You’ll build essential knowledge and practical skills that employers are looking for, giving you a strong foundation to progress into work or further study.
This fully funded programme is part of the Government’s Skills Bootcamps initiative, helping adults across Cornwall access high-quality training and job opportunities.

What you will learn
During the Bootcamp you will cover key areas of early years care, including:
- Safeguarding – keeping children safe and protected
- Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) – promoting inclusive practice in childcare
- Health & Safety – creating safe environments for children and staff
- Role and Responsibilities – understanding your part in an early years setting
- Continuous Professional Development (CPD) – reflecting on and improving your practice
- Child Development – exploring how children grow, learn, and thrive
- Working in Partnership – building positive relationships with parents, carers, and professionals
- Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) – supporting all children’s learning and development
- Understanding Theories – exploring the frameworks that underpin early years practice
- Supporting Healthy Lifestyles – encouraging good nutrition and hydration in young children
Eligibility
Are aged 19 or over
Unemployed and have the right to work in the UK
Live in Cornwall
Funding
This programme has been funded by the Cornwall Council Adult Skills Fund, making it fully funded and accessible for eligible learners.
Starting on the 27th October 2025 in St Austell
